Beginning in early November the high tunnel takes center stage on the farm. Filled to overflowing with colorful lettuce, yummy spinach, spicy arugula, and swiss chard, the high tunnel is a welcome spot on a cold, dreary day.
To partake of these cool season "organical" veggies, send an e-mail to the farm and ask to be placed on the Winter Veggie List. When crops are ready for harvest, an e-mail is sent to everyone on the list, and if you want something that's ready, just e-mail back with how much and what you want; no membership required. Deliveries are made to a central location in Fairfield Glade. Orders may also be picked up at the farm by appointment. The farm is located only one mile from I-40 so it's also convenient if you live in a nearby town to grab some fresh veggies during the cold days of winter.
Add in fresh eggs from the Happy Hens, buttery Yukon Gold potatoes, turnips, rutabaga, and white Kennebec potatoes, and you will never yearn for fresh, local veggies during the winter.
